We are proud to sponsor, James French, a local racing driver competing in hill climb and sprint championships.
Look out for his modified Mazda MX-5 racing car around Manchester, proudly featuring the Linten logo.
James French is both an IT Engineer and racing driver. Recognised as one of the youngest competitors in hill climb and sprint championships, James has been an avid fan of motorsports from an early age.
“When I was young I would go to Buxton Raceway and always nag to compete in the junior events. But I wasn’t able to, since it’s such an expensive activity.” – James French
With new investment from Linten, James is now able to compete in a wider range of events, with a new competitive edge. In his first year competing professionally, James is a competitor in four motorsport championships:
HSA Speed Championship, Longton’s Northern Speed Championship, Liverpool Motor Club’s Speed Championship, and the Champion of Three Sisters.
James is rapidly progressing in a very competitive vehicle class, but his focus remains on gaining “crucial real world experience” in the competitive format.
“I’m quickly learning where improvements can be made and what needs to be done to make myself a more competitive driver.” – James French
James is a Helpdesk Support Technician at Linten, with a passion for motor racing outside of work. He also holds the Linten lap record at our monthly team GoKarting events!
We pride ourselves on our supportive spirit within the Linten team and provide hands-on help wherever necessary. Our team of expert IT Engineers have helped James to modify his racing car when an extra pair of hands is needed!
“My biggest supporters have been Linten and my grandparents.” – James French
Beyond providing personal and professional support, Linten have also taken a leading role in building an online presence for Frenchie Motorsports. We registered the domain and designed the website, before providing full hosting services.
The IT industry and the race track are not as different as they may first appear. Both are very fast-paced industries that require vigilance and quick reactions. As a Helpdesk Support Technician, James is on-call for reactive support for a range of clients across multiple industries.
“It’s easy to see why motorsport is fast paced, entering corners at 100MPH+, correcting over/understeer and cutting every possible fraction of a second from your lap time. But people sometimes forget how fast paced the IT industry can be. IT requires you to be quick to adapt and always paying attention. IT is one of the fastest developing industries and we are always striving to ensure our customers have the best, most up-to-date solutions for their business needs.” – James French
Similarly, IT Support and motorsports both require an efficient approach to troubleshooting. On the racetrack, a flat tyre or mechanical issue can put drivers in a dangerous situation. Online, a cyber threat or technological fault can risk your business productivity, security and reputation.
“If something isn’t right you need to be able to identify this quickly and work towards resolving it as soon as possible.” – James French
At Linten, we use advanced monitoring software to pinpoint and rectify problems before they occur. This proactive approach to IT Support and motor racing sets James up for safety and success on the track.
We pride ourselves on fostering a positive community spirit between our colleagues and with our clients. We are dedicated to helping small businesses and enterprises to grow and achieve their full potential.
“Linten creates such a brilliant environment inside and outside of working hours.” – James French
Our dedicated and experienced team work together to make sure that everyone feels comfortable in their role and can manage their tasks. Each member of the team is always willing to go the extra mile for both the customers and colleagues which helps provide a warm and enjoyable work environment.
Outside of working hours we also organise team-building and social activities. For example, you’ll find the Linten team at the local GoKarting track at least once a month. This is where James French gets the chance to showcase his racing skills in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Beyond supporting our own team, we are also proud sponsors of Village Manchester Football Club (VMFC). IT Support is at the heart of our award-winning service offering, so it comes naturally to us to support worthy local causes.
